Sailing Options
SV Rhona H is a gaffed rigged ketch built in Tasmania between 1942 and 1947. Originally built as a fishing vessel, then as an abalone vessel, Rhona H was restored in 2014 to share with the tall ship community and all those wishing to experience her majestic beauty. Rhona H operates from Hobart, Tasmania offering short sails on the Derwent River, full day sails to Kettering, and longer trips to Bruny Island and Port Arthur, as well as custom sailing programs for individuals and small groups.
OUR REGULAR WEEKEND EXPERIENCE
All the crew are volunteers, and we have a limited sailing program as we have adjusted our schedule post-COVID.
You can sail the River Derwent (actual direction depends on the wind!)
Join us on Hobart Waterfront at the Elizabeth Street Pier (behind The Lady Nelson)
You will experience a two-hour sail with sails set and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and a light refreshment as we cruise the River Derwent. Gluten free, vegan options available, too.
OUR CURRENT SCHEDULE
PRIVATE CHARTERS
Sailing is integral in all our cruises. Sailing under the Bridge is a highlight; through Battery Point and Sandy Bay is another destination. For private charters we let our guests chose their preferred option. The three hour trips to Bedlam Walls Caves and (wind dependent) into Shag Bay is lovely. Sailing according to the wind and letting the wind on the day decide is always great, too!
The things we like to know are based on length of time and what type of food and beverages clients prefer.
As an overall idea, the base cost is $800 for up to 10 people for 2 hours including morning or afternoon tea style refreshments.
Filtered water, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fruit juice is included.
For three hours and lunch it is the same with the base cost at $1100 with the other options as above.
All our food is vegetarian and features Tasmanian Cheese and produce where possible.
An added suggestion is a twilight sail during the week (departing 6pm) with canapé style refreshments with the base pricing $800 with added options as above.
We always include a complimentary “birthday cake” (usually a decorated cheesecake or similar) for dessert and a souvenir gift from the boat for special events.
